Five for Friday!

It's been a while since I linked up with Doodle Bugs for her Five for Friday, so I thought I would give it a whirl this week. I even managed to get it up before midnight! And it has been a busy, busy Friday! My fiancé just left for a camping/fishing bachelor party weekend, so I've got the baby, dogs, and cats all to myself for three days. I took Zoe and my mom to my final wedding dress fitting this afternoon. Then had a lovely visit with my parents and brother. What have you been up to this week? Click the picture below to link up or check out the other blogs who have linked up their five!

If you follow me on instagram or Facebook, you might have already seen this, but I finally got my own personalized Melonheadz! Nikki over at Melonheadz Illustrating did such a cute job. I just love my doodle!

I figured out the first job for my new Amanda Melonheadz. I'm going to make little business cards/magnets with my contact information to give to parents at the beginning of the year! It has my name, our school's name, the school's phone number, my email, and our classroom wiki address. So cute!

Ok, seeing as the first three numbers of my Five for Friday are all about Melonheadz, it's probably official. I'm an addict. I have the badge to prove it.

I can never just work on one thing at a time. I've got about a million different wedding projects on the go and about two million school-related projects on the go as well. Here are a few TpT projects I'm in the middle of... Hope to have them up soon!

I never thought I would give up the feeling of reading with an actual book in my hand, but since I've started using the Kindle app on my iPad, I love it! Don't get me wrong, I will never stop buying actual books for my classroom. But for personal use, it is sooooo much easier to carry around one iPad (or even use my iPhone when I'm waiting in line somewhere) than a backpack full of books. Here are the school books I've got waiting for me to crack into.

I have two actual books I want to read as well...

Has anybody read any of these books? What did you think of them?

I haven't joined in on the book studies, but I am loving reading the posts on the new Daily 5 book. Check out these awesome blogs for some great insight into the Daily 5: First Grade Blue Skies,  A Day in First Grade, and A Differentiated Kindergarten

Toodles!

Worksheet WEDNESDAY

Woo! Three days in a row! I made it! I'm back for a third day to link up with The Teaching Tribune for their weekly summer linky. Today is Worksheet Wednesday. I'm going to highlight a post from the past with a math worksheet freebie in it!

Here is a throw back post from two years ago, featuring everyone's favourite pigeon and some free cookie subtraction worksheets!

 Late Breaking News from PNN!!

I started this morning off by telling the kids there was the really important news report that I had to show them! It was breaking news!

I have had the release date for this book scheduled into my phone for months now! I was so excited when I finally walked into the book store and saw it sitting there... Oh that Mo Willems cracks me up! I love the little ducking. He's such a cutie-pa-tootie!!

I knew this would get my kids a little excited and goofy first thing on a Monday morning... after a long weekend... with bellies full of chocolate and jelly beans... and I wanted to start some lessons on subtraction because we haven't done much work on it. So I decided that the pigeon, duckling, and cookies would help me get the kids excited about subtraction!

I created this little chart to help us do some subtraction problems together. I just used my name cookies that I made for our "Who Stole the Cookie?" game way back in September... I came up with some subtraction questions for use to practice together. While I was working at the front, students were using unifix cubes in front of them to practice subtraction. They had a lot of fun!

Then I whipped up a few cookie subtraction worksheets to go with our lesson! They seemed to get it quickly when we talked about cookies... Because if you have some cookies and you eat some... you can't have more than you started with! That just doesn't make sense!

If you would like some subtraction practice worksheets (you don't even need to read the book... who doesn't love cookies??) just click the picture below to download!

I'm glad we got Monday out of the way now... Onto Tuesday! :)

Double Linky! {with a little Father's Day Freebie}

Since I'm not in the classroom and don't have much in the way of pictures to show you right now, I'm finding tons of fun linky parties to join! I've linked up with two fabulous blogs today... the bloggers over at The Teaching Tribune are having a fun summer linky party! And of course, Tara over at 4th Grade Frolics has her weekly Monday Made It!

I missed the first week, but am going to try and keep up with The Teaching Tribune for this week! Click the picture below to link up yourself or check out the other bloggers for MONDAY Meet Me! {I was actually too late to join the linky, but I'm still going to post it anyways!!}

I teach... This was my third year in first grade and I just love it!

I have... Have you seen a picture of my little Zoe? She is just too cute for words! I enjoy showing her off any chance I get. It's a bad habit.

I watch... I love watching home reno and house hounting shows on HGTV. I also could watch reruns of The Big Bang Theory 24/7. So good!

I listen... I'm a country girl. The Highway on Sirius XM satellite radio is my favourite radio station!

I read... I love reading on my iPad. It's synced with my iPhone too, so sometimes I read from my phone when I'm standing in line somewhere or don't have my iPad with me. I loaded up on a few summery reads... finished "The Fault In Our Stars" in one day. Loved it. I have a few teachery reads too... Daily 5 Second Edition, The Read-Aloud Handbook, and Guided Math.

I do... I may have mentioned it once or twice, but I will be saying "I do!" to my sweetie this summer! 40 days to go... not that I'm counting...

Which leads me into the next link up... Monday Made It! I have been crafting away, getting ready for the wedding in July. We're having the wedding in a tent in our yard, so the theme is kind of rustic country. I'm loving it!

First up, the cute wedding stuff I've been crafting this week! Mason jar candle holders for the tables, mini take out containers for the candy bar, cute chalkboard signs for the cake table and candy bar table, and cute baskets for napkins and cards. I also cut out 26 squares of burlap to go in the centre of the tables. The take out container is the prototype. I still have... 199 more to make? Eeek!!

Lastly, just a quick and easy Father's Day gift! A cute little label to stick on a can of your favourite nuts! :) You can download the labels (without the name) from here.

Come back tomorrow to check out Two for TUESDAY! Two of my products will be 50% off for one day only! See ya then!

We ♥ Books

Hi. My name is Amanda. I am book addict. I get it from my mom. Not only do I love reading books myself, but I love buying books for school, and now I also love buying books for my Zoe! She already has a small collection of books and we like to enjoy a cuddle with a good book too. I'm thinking I may need to buy her this onesie from The Lesson Plan Diva Teacher Tees. It says "I will be reading soon because my mommy is a TEACHER." Hehe.

Anywho, I am here today to join in Mrs. Jump's new Tuesday (yes, I know today is Wednesday...) linky party W♥ Books! It's a place to share about some new or old favourite books. Click the picture below to find some new books to add to your shopping carts!

The book I'm sharing today is new one I bought for Zoe, from a favourite author of mine: Robert Munsch! The book is called "Hugs" and it is the first book Robert Munsch wrote that is only available as a board book.

It is about a girl named Thea who gets mad at her mom, so she takes her little brother and they go for a walk. Her brothers needs a hug, so Thea finds a snail, a skunk, a porcupine, and a gorilla to give him a hug, but none of those hugs were right. When they get home, they realize there is nothing quite like a mommy hug. :) Super cute story!

What are some of your favourite books? Link up!
